If you own the game already, you can rip it onto PC and significantly enhance it. Additionally, emulators exist and can give games more life. And you will never finish your backlog on Steam.

You will never run out of games to play on PC. Humble Bundle, Amazon Prime, Steam Sales, and various other websites practically give you games for free. You can render videos and tons of other neat tricks. Sat 5th Sep You can pop up a guide on another screen for a game. You can compress videos, images, and files down to make the most of your storage space. It is incredibly helpful for being productive. Oh and Console kids? You sound like a kid" Or maybe I'm just being ignorant and.the following above really isn't as big if a Deal as I'm making it out to be. "I'm not interested in building a PC or having some loud towering brick in my living room or spending easily about $1500 to have it doing what I want Ala maxed graphics, native 4k+60fps or 1440p+120fps etc. So saying OLEDs have less blur is not true. "chances are you game on an LCD/QLED, meaning your TV's motion smearing/blur hides the effect."Īny sources to back this up? Lower framerate means more blur, as highlighted in the article. On the flip side, they have the best color available because they aren't just blocking light with polarizers and crystal diodes cleverly. If you used this as a monitor, any page you have up too long will have the image burned in. They also decrease their light quickly, resulting in them "making the screen less and less bright." A com-mentor "nitrium" also pointed out that OLED panels suffer from burn-in. Go below 90 Hz on VR, and you can easily suffer from the low refresh rates. According to this OLED suffers from a max cap of 90 Hz Refresh Rate. Cannot wait to play these bad boys again over the holidays!

Though Sunshine and Galaxy also look great even on a compressed YouTube video I can tell the clarity in the textures and it looks like Nintendo used slight AA as Galaxy looks way less jagged like it did on the Wii or even being emulated vanilla without those features enabled.

So Mario 64 in 720p is a necessary evil as you just cannot run it in true 1080p without widescreen. Those saying they cannot see a difference should pull up the GameXplain video where they put the two side-by-side there is a clear difference in the texture work.ĭon't know what people think 1080p is, but you cannot achieve it with a game not running in Widescreen. The UI also looks super clear! I'm impressed Nintendo they could have just put Mario 64 in as a toss in with Sunshine and Galaxy, but they went through the effort to decompress everything. You can tell on the brickwork and paintings like the Boo and Peach tower that these are either re-drawn assets or uncompressed originals. Even on the Wii U the textures always looked fuzzy and had the darkening anti-seizure filter (ever N64 Wii U VC game had it) and a bit blurry even on emulation. You can clearly tell Mario 64 is running uncompressed textures. Lack of other game announcements from Nintendo may be disheartening, but this collection is far from disappointing.

To remake these games for the modern age would take a huge amount of time and resources, and I wouldn't be surprised if in that scenario we would get 3 full priced releases instead. I think everyone is mislead to believe that isn't a gargantuan undertaking. I don't know in what world we live in that we expected these games to get full remakes in a current-age Mario engine. Here in Australia to buy Galaxy on its OWN for the damn WII costs around $50 in most stores. Maybe it's because the rumours already killed all element of surprise but three full 3D Mario games in one full-priced package is a steal. That being said, I'm surprised at how many people in the comment section were disappointed with this collection. Even if it's just a straight up-res it will still look fantastic in this day and age.Ħ4 on the other hand, not so. Looking at it, honestly Galaxy with its superb art direction and beautiful environments has aged incredibly well.
